About Kristi Sanders

My name is Kristi Sanders and I graduated from Marlow High School in 2004. My dad is the IT Director at Marlow Public Schools. After I graduated from high school, I went to Oklahoma State University where I studied English and Spanish. I graduated in May 2008. Five days after graduation, I joined the U.S. Army to become an Arabic Linguist and was shipped off to basic training in Fort Jackson, South Carolina where I trained for 2 1/2 months. After I graduated basic training, I moved to Monterey, California where I studied Arabic at the Defense Language Institute, Presidio of Monterey.

In the language classes, there was a mixture of military units. We studied with Airmen, Marines, and Navy Seamen, as well as other Army soldiers. I met my husband, Christopher Sanders, who was also studying Arabic in order to be an Arabic Linguist. However, he wasn't in the Army; he was a Marine. Chris and I graduated from the Defense Language Institute in November of 2009. He moved to Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, Texas, and I came back to Marlow where I had our daughter Millie in January 2010. Chris graduated from Goodfellow Air Force Base and we moved to Kailua, Hawaii for the next 2 years where I stayed at home with our daughter.

My husband's EAS date was coming up fast, so we decided that I would move back to Marlow and obtain my Teaching Certificate. Once I received my certificate, I went about trying to find a job and was lucky enough to get one in the one place I wanted to be: Marlow. My daughter and I moved back to Marlow in May 2012 and my husband came shortly after, once he was discharged from the Marine Corps in October in 2012.

My first teaching assignment was as the 7th grade English Language Arts teacher for the 2012-2013 school year. The next year, I moved to the 6th grade as the English Language Arts/Reading teacher and I have been here ever since. My husband graduated from the University of Oklahoma with his Bachelors and Masters in Mechanical Engineering. He is currently working as an engineer at NOV in Marlow.

My oldest child, Millie is currently a 6th grader at Marlow Middle School. My middle child, Thalia, is a 2nd grader at Marlow Elementary. And my youngest, Cordelia, is 3 years old. It’s great to be in Marlow where I can raise my children in this wonderful school and community.
