About Me

Educational History:

I graduated from Fort Gibson High School in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.  I earned my undergraduate degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and my graduate degree from Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma.

Degrees and Certifications:

I have earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from NSU and a Master of Arts degree in Teaching from Cameron.  I am certified to teach English grades 5-8 and Special Education (Mild/Moderate Disabilities) grades PK-12 in the great state of Oklahoma.

Current Position:

As of the 2022-2023 school year, this is my eighteenth year as an educator.  I have been with Marlow Public Schools since the 2015-2016 school year.  I currently teach 7th grade Literature.

Previous Position:

I became a part of the Marlow Outlaw family for the 2015-2016 school year.  Prior to this, I taught at Schrade Middle School in the Garland Independent School District of Texas for seven years and at Horace Mann Elementary and Mark Twian Elementary in the Duncan Public School system for three years.

Family Information:

I’m originally from Fort Gibson which is the oldest town in Oklahoma.  It is located in northeastern Oklahoma, and at one point in history, it was the furthest point of civilization in the ENTIRE United States west of the Mississippi River. It’s a beautiful town full of history, and if you have never visited, you should go!  I have been married to Greg Travis, a Marlow native, since 2001.  Our daughter, McKenna, is a Junior, and our son, Ethan, is an 8th grader.  Both are Marlow Outlaws just like their dad which is a source of tremendous pride for him.  Our daughter enjoys being part of the M. O. S. T. team at the high school.  Our son enjoys athletics, competing with the basketball and golf teams. They keep us very busy! We have two dogs, four cats, around 15 goats, and five chickens.  That information should lead you to infer that our family loves animals and living out in the country.

Personal Information:

If I’m not teaching or planning new ideas to try out in the classroom, you will probably find me out enjoying nature on a walk at a state park, shopping, reading, or cooking.
