Current Position:

I started teaching in Marlow Public Schools in  2015-16. I was hired for First Grade. I have been in this district since 2015-16. I am also currently the President of MACT (Marlow Association of Classroom Teachers).

Previous Position:

Prior to teaching in Marlow, I taught in Lawton Public Schools. I taught in that district for 12 years and was a teacher’s assistant in 2nd grade for 1 year. During my time 12 years of teaching in Lawton, I taught First Grade for 5 years and was a Title I Reading Specialist for the rest. I loved being a Reading Specialist! I love Reading and am very passionate about it; therefore being a Reading Specialist was perfect for me. It allowed me to do Reading all day long, which I absolutely loved. I enjoyed doing 1-1 instruction and small group instruction.

Family Information:

My name is Jill Barron. I will be 49 years old in September 2023. I live in Duncan with my husband Paul, our son Alex, and our cat Chase. My family and I have lived in Duncan for 15 years. Before moving to Duncan, we lived in Lawton, where we lived for 6 years. I have been married to Paul for 21 years. We got married on a beach in the Bahamas.  This was our 2nd attempt to get married there because the 1st attempt was cancelled due to the fact that our flight to the Bahamas was on September 11, 2001 (& yes, we were on a plane in the air at the exact same time that the towers were hit. That was scary! Yikes!) . Our son Alex is 8½ years old and is a 3rd grader at Marlow Elementary. I can’t believe I have a 3rd grader! How is that possible?! It seems like just yesterday, he was a brand-new tiny baby. Time is going too fast! I love having him in the same school as me though. Alex is the light in my life. He is by far the best thing in my life. He makes me smile and laugh all the time. He melts my heart when he smiles at me. He is a momma’s boy and loves to snuggle, which I absolutely love. I call him “my little peanut" all the time, although he is not so little anymore. Our son Alex likes school.  He loves Reading and Math playing with his friends. Alex and I love going to the mountains, playing at the beach, flying on airplanes, riding the 4 wheeler, going on hikes, and playing. He loves life & loves going on advenures. He is always up for doing something. He is excited about everything & I love it! Life with him is so much fun! I love his excitement about everything! As a family, we enjoy taking walks, watching movies, going on trips, going out to eat, playing in the snow, riding bikes, and swimming. I personally also love to do word finds and read. I read whenever I can. I treasure anything and everything I do with Alex. I also enjoy relaxing with a good book or movie. We also enjoy spending time with my parents and are thrilled that they live closer to us now. Spending time with my family is very important to me and I treasure every minute.

Personal Information:

My hobbies include playing with our son Alex (my most favorite thing to do!), taking walks, watching movies, reading, arts & crafts, traveling, word searches, and crossword puzzles. When I am not teaching, I enjoy my hobbies whenever I can. I also enjoy time with my family. Family is everything to me! My most favorite thing to do though is to play with Alex. He makes me smile and laugh all the time. He is so much fun to be around. My son is the light of my life, my whole world. :)
