My name is Sherri Young. I am married to Mark Young, the Alternative Education teacher in Marlow. We have been married for 27 years. We have two children, a daughter, Codi Young, who is a junior at Cameron University and a son, Seth Young, who is a senior at Marlow High School. I serve, along with my husband Mark, as the Children's Ministry Leaders at Chisholm Trail Church of Christ. I graduated in 1992 from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas. I am a ATM fan!!!
My teaching career began in a very small school in Palo Pinto, Tx., where I taught first grade for seven years. Since, I built and started a private Pre-School, Kiddie Kollege. I taught at Kiddie Kollege for 6 years before moving to Oklahoma. I began teaching in Marlow as a third grade teacher in 2009. The next year I was asked to teach first grade and did so for 4 years. The past two years I have taught Pre-K, and have to say this is the age for me! I love teaching the younger children. It is my job to instill in these little guys that school is fun. I think that if I can help them learn to love school at the earliest age that it will stick with them for a lifetime.
After taking a brief pause from teaching, I quickly learned that roads take us to many different places and different directions, but when you love what you do, you will return. I hope in this journey of life, the children I teach will learn something more precious than reading, math or spelling. I hope they learn what it means to be an Outlaw and that they are.......loved.
Carla Samples is my aide, and I have to say that she keeps our classroom running effeciently! She is wonderful and I could not do my job without her. Not only is she the best aide ever, she is my friend.
Together, we will have an amazing year!
