2nd Grade Teacher
I graduated from Lawton MacArthur High School in 1992. I did not attend college until later in life unless it was for a football or basketball game. While staying home with my kiddos, I began volunteering at the J. Roy Dunning Children’s Shelter. There were many evenings where I was able to help the children with their homework. I couldn’t help it; I fell in love with the kiddos there! It was at that point in my life that I decided to talk with my husband about me going to college for the first time to earn a teaching degree. I knew that this was not going to be an easy task juggling my husbands or my kid’s schedule. With much help from my family and friends, I entered the doors of Cameron University in 2009 not a young student fresh out of high school, but an older woman with two kids. I worked very hard and earned an elementary teaching degree in 2013!
I graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2013 from Cameron University with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.
I began my teaching career in 2013 here at Marlow Elementary! I currently teach second grade.
While going to Cameron University, I did a lot of subbing for the Lawton and Duncan public schools. I did my student teaching in Duncan, Oklahoma at Emerson Elementary and Plato Elementary and had wonderful mentor teachers!
As of August 23, I have been married for 20 years! My husband works at Duncan Middle School as a US History teacher, coaches tennis, and is a youth pastor at Central Baptist Church. We have done ministry together for about 20 years at several different churches. I also have two teens. My son, Braeden, is in 9th grade at Duncan High School. He is a huge fan of OU football and loves playing on the varsity tennis team. Lauren is in the 7th grade and attends Duncan Middle School. She is very excited about getting to play her FIRST ever team sports. She got to play in her first game of volleyball and was so happy when she hit the ball and it actually went over the net. She will also play tennis in the spring. Last of all, we have a mut named Gabi. Although just a mut, she is named after the famous tennis player Gabriela Sabatini. She is the princess of our household.
My hobbies have changed just as seasons do. Currently I can be found hanging out at the courts watching my husband coach my kids in a tennis match or watching my daughter’s volleyball games. I love making crafts with my daughter and spending quality time with her. When I am not in the classroom teaching, I am always looking at pinterest or Teachers Pay Teachers for creative ways to better teach my students. (I might find a cute craft to make too).
